Miley Cyrus is a flower girl through and through. Not only did they inspire her first Grammy-winning song, but blooms are at the heart of the Gucci Flora fragrances she’s been the face of since 2021.
Today, Cyrus reveals a new scent in the Gucci Flora family, Gucci Flora Gorgeous Orchid Eau De Parfum, and a campaign that wasn’t just a bed of roses.
“When I told my godmother, Dolly [Parton], that I hiked to the Hollywood sign in heels, she said, ‘Honey, I do everything in heels!’” Cyrus tells Vogue. For many, the Hollywood sign symbolizes the dream of stardom—including for the singer herself, whose 2009 hit “Party in the U.S.A.” mentioned the monument. “To me, the Hollywood sign represents making dreams a reality. I love John Lennon’s quote ‘A dream we dream alone is just a dream, but a dream we dream together becomes reality.’ L.A. is all about making magic happen.”
Yet flowers have always been a large part of Cyrus’s life, even outside of her relationship with Gucci. You can find peonies throughout her home “because they are my mom’s favorite and remind me of her”; and they’ve even informed her tattoos. “I have two tattoos of flowers. One is a rose, because its petals are beautiful, but the stem is strong and sometimes sharp. A rose protects itself; it’s vulnerable but powerful. Two things I wish to represent.”
For Cyrus, the Flora Gorgeous Orchid perfume and campaign feel well suited to her next era. “I love that Gucci believes that a sequin dress can be as protective as armor, that you can be soft and strong all in the same breath,” she says. That’s very much the energy she’s looking to bring into her future.
“[I want] to continue to create, write music, and grow in all aspects and avenues of my life. Loving others and being loved is my ultimate inspiration,” she adds. “I am super excited about the launch of the Miley Cyrus Foundation, and that’s a big focus for me right now: honoring women and celebrating mothers in all of their diversity.”
