Taking to Instagram, the popular TV personality explained why he would be absent from the luncheon, which raises money for cancer research.
“I wish I could be there celebrating with you, but unfortunately I have to go for surgery tomorrow,” he said in a video message.
Whilst the cook did not say what his condition was, he later posted a video showing his leg in a heavy brace.
Manu’s knee looked especially red and swollen, with dressing across the kneecap.
“I’ve had some surgery done and I can’t cook for myself as I usually do,” he said in the clip, which shows him unpacking boxed food ingredients.
Fans flocked to the comments section to wish Manu well.
“Look after your leg mon ami!” wrote fellow chef Luca Ciano.
“Hope you’re ok.”
“Manu, oh no. What happened?” wondered another follower.
“Too much sauce, and u slipped on it?
“Get well soon.”
Asked another: “What have you done to yourself now? Wishing you a speedy recovery.”
One fan ordered Manu to “GO BACK TO BED!”
“Ouch!” wrote another.
“Looks painful.
“Hope your knee gets better soon.”
It’s been a big year for Manu.
Apart from co-hosting a successful season of MKR with Colin Fassnidge and Nigella Lawson, he had to say farewell to friend fellow chef Jock Zonfrillo, who died earlier this year aged 46.
Not long after news broke of Zonfrillo’s death, a visibly shaken Manu spoke to 7NEWS about his passing.
“I just turned 50 and I’m still feeling young so I’m telling you, 46, it’s far too young to go,” he told 7NEWS.
“I feel really sorry for his wife and his kids.
“I’m sending them all my love.
“I’ve got kids myself and I’m finding it hard to find my words right now.”
