NEW DELHI: In a historic performance on Wednesday, pace sensation Mohammed Shami etched his name in the annals of 50-over World Cup history, delivering the best-ever bowling figures by an Indian bowler in the tournament.
Shami’s extraordinary seven-wicket haul, combined with Virat Kohli’s record 50th ODI century, stole the limelight as India secured a convincing 70-run victory over New Zealand in the World Cup semifinal at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium.Shami’s spellbound the cricketing world, overshadowing Ashish Nehra’s 6/23 against England in the 2003 World Cup, making it the best-ever performance by an Indian in World Cup history.
