The Maruti Suzuki S-Presso, a popular micro-SUV, received 1-star rating in the latest NCAP tests. It scored 20.03 points out of a possible 34 for adult occupant protection and 3.52 points for child occupant safety. The earlier version of the S-Presso tested under older protocols scored an even lower 0-star rating. This model is available in four variants with prices starting from Rs 4.26 lakh, ex-showroom.

Hyundai Grand i10 Nios
The popular Hyundai hatchback received a 2-star rating in the GNCAP safety assessment tests, with a score of 7.05 out of 17 for adult occupant protection and 15 out of 49 for child occupant protection. In total, it earned 22.05 out of 66 points. Prices start at Rs 5.92 lakh, ex-showroom.
Maruti Suzuki Alto K10
The Alto K10 hatchback, a popular model in the budget car segment, managed a slightly better 2-star rating in the latest NCAP tests. The hatch scored 21.67/34 points for adult occupant safety and 3.52/49 points for child occupant protection. It is one of the most affordable cars in India with ex-showroom prices starting from just Rs 4 lakh.
Renault Kwid
Next up is the Renault Kwid, another popular hatchback in the budget segment. The Kwid’s NCAP rating is based on the older testing protocols, where it managed 2 stars. It scored 7.78 points for adult occupant protection and 19.68 points for child occupant protection.
Maruti Suzuki Wagon R
Following suit is the Maruti Suzuki Wagon R hatchback, another popular budget car. Similar to the Alto K10, the Wagon R also received a 2-star rating in the NCAP tests. It scored 19.69 points for adult occupant protection and 3.40 points for child occupant safety. The prices for this model commence at Rs 5.55 lakh, ex-showroom, onwards.
Maruti Suzuki Swift
The Maruti Suzuki Swift, a well-established name in the hatchback segment, received a 1-star rating from Global NCAP. While it offers a feature-rich package and sporty performance, the car scored 19.9 points for adult occupant protection and 16.68 points for child occupant safety.
