Musk Considering a ‘Noble’ Discussion with Zuckerberg Instead of a Cage Fight

Tesla and X owner Elon Musk is considering the suggestion of having a “noble” debate instead of a cage fight with Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg.

A post on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter, suggested the idea of a cage match debate, to which Musk responded, “That sounds like a good idea too.”

“This is really fighting (I believe) a noble sport,” he wrote. “We also hope, with humility, to express our admiration for those who have fought before for noble causes.”

The potential for a cage match between the two tech billionaires began in June, when Musk said he was “up for a cage match if [Zuckerberg] is,” while responding to a post about Threads, Meta’s new alternative to X. Zuckerberg responded, writing, “Send Me Location,” in an Instagram story.

Since then, the two tech CEOs have gone back and forth on social media with apparent teases of the cage fight.

Musk said Sunday that the potential cage match would be livestreamed on X, and all proceeds with go to charity for veterans. Zuckerberg mocked the announcement, writing on Threads, “Shouldn’t we use a more reliable platform that can actually raise money for charity?”

Zuckerberg suggested Aug. 26 as the date for the fight when Musk first challenged him, but it has not been confirmed; the Meta CEO said he was “not holding [his] breath.”

“I love this sport and will continue competing with people who train no matter what happens here,” he quipped in a follow-up post.

Musk said last week the exact date of the cage fight is “still in flux,” as he may require surgery before the fight can take place. He claimed he was scheduled to get an MRI of his neck and upper back last week, though no update was provided.
