Director Nag Ashwin’s Kalki 2898 AD is setting box office records with every passing day. The film with the stellar starcast of Amitabh Bachchan, Kamal Haasan, Deepika Padukone and Prabhas has been the talk of the town since the day of its release.
Fans have been quick to point out that Deepika, who is considered to be one of the fittest actors in the business, did not do any action.Nag Ashwin in an exclusive interview with ETimes shared, “Deepika comes in the story from a point of view where she hasn’t seen the outside world. She’s sort of trapped. And even that little moment of courage or that action that she has to do to walk down that tunnel or to escape to save her child is the only scope of action that she gets because it’s so new to her. I don’t know what else she could have done in this setup of things. Because it felt like she was a fish out of water. And suddenly she fell into a much larger mythological story and game that she had no idea about. Like there’s suddenly this eight feet guy who’s protecting her and then there’s this bounty hunter too. There’s this bunch of people in one hidden city calling her mother. She has no idea what’s going on. So if she’s looking confused in the film, I think that’s a very natural reaction.”
Deepika is expecting her first child in September and announced her pregnancy in February end and she’s also shown pregnant in the film. Nag also revealed that Deepika shot for Kalki 2898 AD when she was pregnant, “She did actually in the end. In one of her last pickup shots, she was actually pregnant. So there were two days when her actual child also acted in the movie (laughs).”
