Reflecting on the prevalent stigma surrounding working mothers, Neeru addressed the intrusive queries often directed at them. “Nobody asks the father even if they are missing the kids,” she pointed out, highlighting the societal double standard. She lamented the lack of solidarity among women, who instead of supporting each other, sometimes contribute to the judgment and criticism faced by working mothers.
Nevertheless, she acknowledged there is also a segment of women and men who understand the world of a working mother and are more than appreciative of the same.
In the interview, Neeru shared endearing anecdotes about maintaining a strong bond with her eldest daughter, Aanaya, through daily FaceTime calls while on set. Despite the physical distance, Neeru ensured Aanaya felt connected, thanks to a robust support system that eased the transition for her younger twins, Aalia and Aakira.
“Aanaya is a very smart kid. She knows her mom has to go to work, she has been trained and conditioned that way. You know our jobs, it is like we are in an army, we go out and we don’t know when are we coming back. So Aanya never makes me guilty for leaving her at home. She asked me ‘How was your day, how was your shoot?’ said Neeru Bajwa.
Aanaya’s understanding and maturity further underscored the depth of their relationship. Neeru marveled at her daughter’s composure, noting how Aanaya, aware of her mother’s profession, never harbored guilt or resentment when Neeru went to work.
Through these intimate glimpses into her life as a mother, Neeru Bajwa’s warmth and devotion resonate deeply, touching the hearts of many.
