Neil Gaiman Explains Why There Isn’t a Blooper Reel

0 1

Some fans hoped for a blooper reel of the first season of Good Omens, but writer Neil Gaiman says that it won’t get one — although The Sandman might.

Although Amazon Prime Video’s Good Omens Season 1 collection offered some special features, there’s no blooper reel available. Some fans have hoped for one, reasoning that such a funny and quirky show would have a few treasures from behind the scenes, but writer Neil Gaiman says that there isn’t one coming.

“They just didn’t bloop,” Gaiman explained to a fan who inquired about it on Tumblr. Elaborating on why the filming mishaps didn’t translate into funny moments for fans, he said, “But watching a bunch of well-fed pigeons refusing to take off and fly as a small child runs through them for take after take after take is something that probably you have to watch the dailies to really enjoy.”

Fans who are interested in more than one of the irons in Gaiman’s fire may be interested in his concurrent mention of The Sandman, Netflix’s live-action adaptation of his classic horror comic series. “Sandman, on the other hand, has blooped,” he noted. Although filming for The Sandman is still underway, it seems that Gaiman already has some funny moments from set in mind.

The first season of Good Omens was released on May 31, 2019. The story follows the demon Crowley and the angel Aziraphale, an unlikely pair of friends who have been living on Earth since the Garden of Eden. When the Apocalypse is scheduled by the divine higher-ups, the pair decide they like the world too much to let it end, and decide they’ll scheme together to keep the forces of Heaven and Hell from enacting their plans.

Good Omens, starring Michael Sheen and David Tennant, was recently renewed for Season 2, in spite of Season 1 covering the complete story told by the book written by Gaiman and the late Terry Pratchett. This time around, the cast may provide enough “bloops” for fans to get the reel they’re after.
