Next Week, Sony is Hosting an Special Event for Something Secret

Sony Event

Earlier this week, Sony Japan teased an upcoming Alpha Event and now Sony Alpha Universe has started a countdown for a special event video presentation, too.

First seen on Sony Alpha Rumors, there remains very little doubt that Sony plans to announce something next week, and now it is clear precisely when that will occur. On November 7 at 9 A.M. EST, Sony will host a live stream on YouTube which will be simulcast on Alpha Universe.

Very little information is available on the YouTube livestream page, but Sony says, “Be ready for a new announcement.” Sony routinely publishes placeholder videos for special events, and these events are frequently the launching ground for new cameras or lenses.

Looking at the video’s tags, which can be seen by viewing a webpage’s source information, does not help narrow anything down. The tags include camera, digital, photography, photo, optics, mirrorless, lens, camcorder, Cyber-shot, Handycam, Alpha, Sony, videography, vlog, and cinema, among other general terms.

On Alpha Universe, Sony has also announced that it will be hosting one of its Creative Space events on November 8 and 9 in New York City. At Creative Space 2023, photographers can meet up with other members of the Alpha community and participate in photo walks, do some hands-on photography, and check out the latest Sony gear.

The Creative Space event will be held from 10 A.M. to 4 P.M. local time on November 8th and 9th at Chelsea Industrial. The event is completely free to attend, but people must register.

Sony Creative Space

“Join our extraordinary community of visual creators live and in-person at Chelsea Industrial in NYC to learn, make art, and connect with like-minded people. Some of the greatest names in photography, video, and film will share their knowledge and creativity directly with you,” Sony explains. “Make yourself known to a new audience and talk one-on-one with leading experts in imaging technology. The event is free and only requires registration.”

Scheduled speakers include photographers Chris Burkard, Zabrina Deng, Jean Fruth, Melissa Groo, Kesha Lambert, Brooke Shaden, Tobi Shinobi, YouTuber Casey Neistat, and comedian and podcaster Akilah Hughes.

It will be exciting to see what Sony announces next week, and PetaPixel will be sure to deliver the information on any new gear as soon as possible.
