CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG) – Stormier conditions have moved to the east, leaving behind a couple of days of quieter conditions.
Storms exiting, leaving behind clearing skies
Storms are exiting the TV9 viewing area as of late Saturday evening. Most of the overnight hours will be dry, with no rain expected on Sunday.
Your First Alert: Pleasant Day Sunday
Sunday is the day to take advantage of some nice weather and do any outdoor activities. With the cold front having passed to our south, we will be in an airmass that is drier and a couple of degrees cooler. By no means is it a drastic drop in the heat and humidity, but any relief is always welcome at this time of year.
Your First Alert: Temperatures and Storm Chances Rise Next week
After another quiet weather day on Monday, we see our temperatures and dew points return to uncomfortable, summer-like conditions once again. Heat index values will be back in the mid 90s, nearing 100 by Tuesday. As we have seen multiple times this summer, the heat and humidity will provide fuel for storms on Tuesday, which will arrive during the afternoon and evening ahead of another cold front.
Your First Alert: Another Break from the Heat
After the passage of the cold front on Tuesday, we get to enjoy another short break from the heat and humidity, as northerly flow brings somewhat cooler and drier air to eastern Iowa
