The Barbz haven’t seen their queen, Nicki Minaj, on a solo tour since the Obama administration. That’s about to change, and when it does, Bay Area fans will be the first in-line.

Minaj is scheduled to begin the Pink Friday 2 tour on Friday, March 1, 2024 in the East Bay at Oakland Arena. It will be a rare opportunity for Bay Area audiences to see the first night of a major musical performer’s tour. Artists tend to open in smaller cities to fine tune their shows before hitting major metropolitan areas like the San Francisco Bay Area (Taylor Swift opened the Eras Tour in Glendale, Ariz. and Olivia Rodridgo is set to begin the Guts World Tour in Palm Springs, Calif.).

Minaj is also set to perform in Southern California, co-headlining Rolling Loud California with Post Malone and Future. She’ll be performing on March 15th, the first night of the Inglewood festival.

Minaj’s upcoming tour is in support of her most recent album, “Pink Friday 2,” the sequel to her debut album “Pink Friday,” which went triple-platinum in 2010. While she’s released recent singles both as a lead and featured artist, “Pink Friday 2” marks Minaj’s first studio album since 2018. She hasn’t toured as a solo headliner since 2016.

Pre-sale for the tour, including the Oakland show, has already started but public onsale will begin Friday, December 15 at 9 a.m.
