Nine people killed by a speeding luxury SUV at a car accident site in Gujarat

At least nine people have been reported dead after a speeding Jaguar F-PACE luxury SUV rammed into a crowd gathered around another accident site on the ISKCON flyover on Sarkhej-Gandhinagar (SG) highway in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. A number of people were gathered at the site after a Mahindra Thar SUV had hit a dumper, and the luxury SUV ploughed into them.

The Jaguar F-PACE is reported to be doing speeds of over 100 kmph, as reported by PTI quoting a police official.

Among the nine that lost their lives in the tragic accident was a police constable, meanwhile 13 others reportedly sustained injuries. Reports also claim that when the luxury SUV rammed into the crowd, people were flung into the air, falling at a distance of about 20 – 25 feet from the site.

The Jaguar F-PACE luxury SUV is currently priced in India from Rs 77.41 lakh (ex-showroom) onwards. The SUV is available with two engine options, including a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine making 250 PS and 365 Nm, as well as a 2.0-litre diesel motor putting out 204 PS power and 430 Nm torque. Both engines are mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission sending power to all four wheels.
