The No. 7 Oregon State Beavers play the MInnesota Golden Gophers Monday morning in a college baseball matchup at Surprise Stadium in Surprise, Arizona.
It’s the second meeting between the teams in three days and the finale of a four-game season-opening series at the Sanderson Ford College Baseball Classic.
The Beavers won the first matchup, 6-4, on Friday, using a five-run third inning and fighting through 12 walks by the pitching staff. It was OSU’s 10th consecutive victory over Minnesota.
Oregon State has slugged 14 home runs this season, including five during a 15-2 win over Cal State Bakersfield on Sunday, reinforcing the preseason notion its lineup had the potential to be among the best in school history.

This and that: The Beavers have outscored their first three opponents by a combined score of 36-12, drawing 20 walks and recording 39 hits, including 22 that went for extra bases … Travis Bazzana, the preseason Golden Spikes Award candidate, has opened the season with three consecutive multi-hit games, going 7 for 13 with three homers, one double, six RBIs and four runs scored. He hit two home runs in Sunday’s 15-2 win over Cal State Bakersfield. … Gavin Turley also hit two homers — including an eight-inning grand slam — in Sunday’s win. … Nine different OSU players have hit a home run so far this season. … Hunter is making his first start since April 16 of last year, when he departed a game with an arm injury and didn’t pitch again the rest of the season. … Four of five OSU everyday starters — Bazzana (.538), Micah McDowell (.556), Brady Kasper (.500) and Trent Caraway (.500) — are batting .500 or better through three games. … Kasper went 2 for 3 with three RBIs and a triple in Sunday’s win. … After allowing 18 walks over the first two games, including 12 in a sloppy Saturday win over Minnesota, the OSU pitching staff did not surrender a single walk on Sunday, as Eric Segura, Bridger Holmes and Joey Mundt pitched the Beavers’ cleanest game so far. … Mundt pitched a 1-2-3 ninth in what was his first appearance since the 2021 playoffs.
