noisy, severe start to Thursday for the Big Country

Thursday, May 16th, 2024

Summary: As mentioned yesterday, a possible increase in storm coverage with an enhanced risk over areas of the big country. We could very well see strong to severe thunderstorms throughout the day. There is still a lot of disagreement between weather models and at this point, we are monitoring development out north for better guidance on how these storms cooperate. Main impacts with severe storms will be very large hail (hen egg sized hail or larger), gusty winds, flooding and isolated tornadoes. Regardless, this is a day TO BE WEATHER AWARE. Have MULTIPLE ways to reach alerts and keep checking in on the forecast ESPECIALLY if you have plans to STEP OUTSIDE AT ALL TODAY. I do believe based on the data we could be seeing three rounds of thunderstorms before Thursday comes to a close. Then, we warm up to the triple digits before our next cold front on Wednesday.

Today: Mostly cloudy with multiple rounds of thunderstorms through the morning, afternoon and evening . High Temperature: 74° Winds: SE 5-10MPH

Tonight: Mostly cloudy with some clearing as showers/t-storms come to a close. Low Temperature: 60° Winds: NE 5-10 MPH
