North Melbourne president Dr Sonja Hood has had enough.
Hood is a well known user of social media and often tweets and posts about her team and her AFL club.
But after a weekend of what she described as “revolting” abuse, Hood has decided to wind up her account on X (formerly Twitter).

Some people in the media have taken aim at Hood due to her playful interaction with fans while the team struggles on the field.
The criticism is that the interaction seems frivolous during a serious and agonising period in the club’s history.
Last year North Melbourne finished second bottom on the ladder, the previous season they were bottom, and they are again second bottom after they were torn to shreds by the Brisbane Lions on the weekend.
North is winless so far this year and are now facing the high-flying Geelong at the Cats’ home base and fortress.
It has been reported that the nature of abuse on X was related to North Melbourne’s performance.
The Lions smashed North by 70 points with only managing 6.6 (42) for the game.
Since that match, “grave” concerns have arisen about the team’s defence.
“North Melbourne are 18th in terms of what they’re doing without the footy,” Champion Data’s Hoyne said on radio station SEN this week.
“Their defensive profile is actually getting worse.
“There is no team easier to turn possession into a score against. They’re the second easiest team to move the ball against, they’ve got the second worst D50 in the competition.
“This is the aspect of grave concern to me at the moment … they want to play this aggressive game, but when they turn the ball over they are the easiest team to punish on turnover.”
In a statement, Hood said the reason she deleted the account had nothing to do with the criticisms from media commentators.
“The stuff I copped on the weekend … was out of line and revolting,” she said.
“And I don’t feel the need to be part of that world.”
