Nostradamus predictions for 2024: Eight terrifying prophecies for the new year

French astrologer Nostradamus is said to have foretold some of the world’s biggest historical moments.

Before his death in 1566, Nostradamus made a number of predictions about the future — many of which have come to pass.

He’s been credited with predicting Adolf Hitler’s rise to power, the assassination of John F. Kennedy, the September 11 terrorist attacks and even COVID-19.

He’s not been called “the prophet of doom” for nothing — and if his prophecies are to believed, the news for next year is not good.

According to his 1555 texts Les Propheties (The Prophecies), 2024 will continue to bring war, famine, disaster and turmoil.

Here’s what the famous astrologer predicted for the year.

Climate disaster

According to Nostradamus’ prophecies, the climate crisis will only worsen in 2024.

“The dry earth will grow more parched, and there will be great floods when it is seen,” he wrote.

“Very great famine through pestiferous wave” suggests extreme weather and widespread hunger.

Deadly virus

According to Nostradamus, researchers will discover the existence of an incredibly deadly virus 40,000 years old.

Bacteria from the virus will slowly release into the ocean’s waters as glaciers melt, killing many people.

This is one of Nostradamus’ many predictions that seems to indicate an awareness of the concept of global warming.

Massive earthquake

The first of two predicted natural disasters will be a cataclysmic earthquake, which Nostradamus pinpointed to occur off the coast of Japan, prompting a tsunami that will devastate homes and kill hundreds of people.

One can’t help but wonder if Nostradamus’ timing was a little off with this one, as such a disaster already struck Japan, in March 2011.

A new king

In one of the more fascinating predictions, there will be a new British king — but it won’t be Prince William.

One of Nostradamus’ prophecies is that a “King of the Isles” will be “driven out by force” by a man “with no mark of a King”.

Analysts have taken this to mean that Prince Harry takes the throne, as he is not the natural heir to the throne.

But the question is: which King will he replace?

Will he “drive out” his own father, King Charles? Or will Charles abdicate in favour of Prince William, who is then driven out “by force?”

Death of the pope

Nostradamus predicted that “through the death of a very old Pontiff, a Roman of good age will be elected”.

The current Pope, Pope Francis, is about to turn 87.

He recently skipped the UN climate conference due to lung inflammation and breathing problems after coming down with the flu.

The new (and younger) pope will be in the position for a long time, according to Nostradamus.

“Long will he sit and in biting activity,” he wrote.

Volcanic eruption

The second major natural disaster to happen in 2024, according to Nostradamus, will be a massive volcanic eruption on Italy’s Mount Etna.

Nostradamus predicted the eruption for late in the year or very early 2025.

According to him, it will be the worst volcanic eruption since 79AD or 1631AD, both on Mount Vesuvius.

China wages war

Nostradamus predicted “combat and naval battle” coming from a “red adversary” who would “become pale with fear, putting the great ocean in dread”.

Some believe the “red adversary” is China, because of their red flag.

The “naval battle” could refer to the current tensions between China and Taiwan.

Humans will be able to live to 150

Nostradamus predicted that with the help of science, humans will begin living longer, with the average lifespan extending to between 150 and 170 years old.

The astrologer predicted that the lifespan of humans could be extended thanks to the development of mechanical organs.

The question is, with all the death and destruction predicted above, who would want to?
