Navy is the daughter of Hunter Biden and Lunden Roberts, who filed a paternity lawsuit against Hunter in 2019. President Biden emphasized that Hunter and Lunden are working together to ensure the best interests of their daughter while safeguarding her privacy moving forward. The president made it clear that this is a family matter, not a political issue, and that he and Jill only want what is best for all their grandchildren, including Navy. President Biden’s love for his family and grandchildren is well-known, with his eldest granddaughter, Naomi, having a lavish wedding at the White House last year. In early July, Navy, her mother, and the details of their child support settlement were profiled by the New York Times, drawing attention to the fact that President Biden had not yet acknowledged his 4-year-old granddaughter. Some GOP presidential candidates, including Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis and former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley, criticized the president for this omission. Hunter Biden has faced challenges with addiction, which he addressed in his 2021 memoir where he also attributed his addictions to the legal battle surrounding his daughter’s paternity. DNA testing confirmed that Hunter is the father of Navy. He recently settled a child support lawsuit and has three older children in their 20s, as well as a 3-year-old son named Beau, frequently seen at the White House. Hunter Biden has been under scrutiny from Republicans due to his business dealings and legal issues.
