The singer-songwriter Connie Converse is often compared to Bob Dylan, but her music went unnoticed during her time in New York City in the 1950s. She eventually left the music scene and disappeared in 1974. However, in 2009, some of her early recordings were released, gaining her a newfound audience. Author and musician Howard Fishman has recently published a biography about Converse and a new album containing 32 of her songs, titled Musicks, will be released on August 11th. Fishman discusses Converse’s mysterious life and music in an interview with NPR’s Eyder Peralta.
