Rai has announced that the odd-even rule will be implemented in the capital for a week from November 13 to November 20.The odd-even rule has previously been used by Arvind Kejriwal-led Delhi government to combatair pollution in the city, however, there is no significant evidence of the efficacy of this initiative.

On the odd-even vehicle rule implemented by Delhi Govt, Rai said “A meeting has been called tomorrow to have further discussions on how to implement the Odd-Even scheme in Delhi…There are over 7,000 buses running in Delhi, out of which 1,000 are electric. The frequency of buses and metros has also increased. To reduce vehicular pollution, an odd-even scheme has been started…”
The list of exemptions from the odd-even rule in Delhi is yet to be ascertained. The worsening air quality also resulted in Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) implementing GRAP stage IV in Delhi NCR. The AQI in Delhi hovered over 450 on November 5, which is classified under the ‘Severe+ Air Quality’.
