Of Course Jennifer Lawrence Was First In Line for These Controversial Summer Shoes

When The Row puts out their Bat-Signal, Jennifer Lawrence answers the call. On a stroll today in New York City, the actor showed off her latest footwear acquisition from the Olsen-fronted brand: their netted jelly flats.

It was really only a matter of time before Lawrence got her hands on the shoes, from The Row’s pre-fall 2024 collection. The real question was what color she would get. (Though, as a longtime proponent of pop-of-red styling, it’s no surprise that Lawrence opted for the cherry licorice iteration.)

Lawrence employed that very styling technique today when picking out her outfit. Dressing for the summer heat, she opted for a lightweight white button-up—mostly unbuttoned for ventilation—with a pair of white pants. The actor leaned into power accents with a red Ralph Lauren baseball cap and her jellies. With her oversized black sunglasses, she added a touch of glamour to the off-duty look.

The Row’s jelly flats are the brand’s elevated interpretation of the PVC fisherman sandals that ruled the ’80s and ’90s. Since then, the shoes of yore have earned a reputation for being dated—and blister-prone. But Lawrence is no stranger to the classic iteration. In 2022, she grabbed an iced coffee in a graphic tee, slim-fitting blue jeans with a raw hem, and clear pink jellies.

She’s also a noted fan of holey shoes. For the last year, the Oscar winner has been a dedicated supporter of Alaïa mesh ballet flats, which she regularly pairs with jeans and tees. But perhaps Jennifer Lawrence has found her new favorite shoe.
