‘Outer Banks’ Netflix Season 2 Spoilers, Air Date, Cast News

0 2

Well, it’s happened: A few months ago, I found myself watching the entirety of Netflix’s Outer Banks all in one day. To be clear, this means I spent 10 full hours staring at my TV to watch a bunch of murderous, horny teens hunting for gold in their sleepy town in the Outer Banks. But now that I’ve preemptively blown my Outer Banks wad, I am looking forward to the end of this pandemic and—ah, yes—season 2. Here’s the deal with the second installment of this blessed mess.

Also, caution: There are season 1 spoilers below!

First, a Quick Recap of Season 1

Outer Banks is about a group of friends known as the Pogues, led by John B. Why his name isn’t just John remains a mystery to me, but IT’S JOHN B, OKAY? Anyway, turns out John B’s dad mysteriously disappeared while hunting for $400 million worth of gold that was lost at sea during a shipwreck. You’ve probably guessed what’s coming next: The Pogues end up finding the treasure while bodies pile up around them, and pretty much everyone is not who they seem. Season 1 of the show ends with John B getting falsely accused of murder, hopping on a boat with his girlfriend, and being chased into the eye of a storm by police. Not at all dramatic!

So, Who Is Coming Back for Season 2?

Don’t worry, guys: All your favorites are expected to make their big returns. Expect new tea to be spilled by Chase Stokes, Madelyn Cline, Madison Bailey, Jonathan Daviss, Rudy Pankow, and Austin North among all the rest of our fave side characters.

There’s Officially Premiere Date on July 30—and a Trailer to Boot!

My dearest OBX fans, please set your Netflix queues for the ultimate premiere date: July 30. Why is that date so special? Why, it’s the day when season 2 makes its debut on the streaming site.

The first official trailer is also out, which means we finally get a closer look at WTF happens now. It sure looks like John B and Sarah end up in the Bahamas like they planned, but they also head back to the OBX…and find someone. Who is after them this time? Well, watch the trailer and see:

Netflix previously released a first-look trailer that dropped ~clues~, as all good trailers do. From the carved-out heart with John B’s name in the tree (WHAT’S GOING TO HAPPEN TO HIM?) to a massive car chase through the Bahamas, things are definitely even more intense in season 2.

Oh, and There Are New Promo Photos Too.

Praise be to everyone who works on the Netflix publicity team!

The Best News? We Kinda Know What Season 2 Is About.

According to official sources (aka Deadline), the show is expected to pick up right where season 1 left off. John B and Sarah are on the run in the Bahamas. The search for the $400 million is still up in the air. Kiara (Madison Bailey), Pope (Jonathan Daviss), and JJ (Rudy Pankow) are in over their heads as drama heats up on the shores of the OBX. And judging from what the creators/producers have to say, this is only the beginning of what’s to come.

“Season 2 is going to test our crew like never before,” creators/executive producers Jonas Pate, Josh Pate, and Shannon Burke told the outlet in June 2021. “We’ve turned up the dial on everything fans loved about season 1—more mystery, more romance, and higher stakes. It’s a full-throttle, action-packed adventure and these photos offer a glimpse into the next chapter for our Pogues. All we can say for now is buckle up, it’s going to be a wild ride.”
