Paige Spiranac puts money where mouth is in July 4 tradition

Paige Spiranac’s first attempt at competitive eating may not have gone down as smoothly as she had hoped, but the influencer is determined to show fans that she is ready for the challenge once more.

Following last month’s parting of ways between Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest and 16-time champion Joey Chestnut, Spiranac offered to serve as his replacement in the competition.

“I’m available to fill in,” she teased. “My record is 6.5 hotdogs in 10 minutes.”

Unfortunately for Spiranac, competitive eating is not as easy as golf and she later corrected that she was only able to put away six hot dogs in the time.

But because she isn’t a quitter and she’s a giver, Spiranac took to social media to eat her way back into your hot dog-loving hearts.

“I’m doing it. I’m really doing it,” she wrote on X on Tuesday.

“Attempting to see how many hotdogs I can eat in 10 minutes again this year. What’s your guess?”

The comments were filled with fans predicting the golfer would eat anywhere from 15 to 150 franks, though Chestnut himself was more realistic.

“At least 10!!,” he guessed. “Don’t stop eating until the job is done!!”

An enthusiastic Spiranac replied, “Teach me your ways!”

Last month, Spiranac shared her first hot dog-eating attempt from July 4, 2023 in a five-minute time elapsed video.

“I’m so nervous. OK, so I heard you take them out, and you eat them together,” she said at the start of the clip.

She tried to knock back two at a time before she remembered that water goes a long way it helping them go down easier.

“Low-key, I thought I could get like 10, this is way harder than I thought it would be,” she admitted.

Once she waved the white flag, Spiranac declared, “OK, that sucked. That actually sucked.”

Despite Chestnut and Spiranac not participating at this year’s event, the Nathan’s Famous Hot Dog Eat Contest will go on.

Miki Sudo, Mayoi Ebihara, Michelle Lesco, Larell Marie Mele, Katie Prettyman, Mary Bowers, Cherish Brown, Jocelyn Young, Julie Goldberg, Tandra Childress, Ellen Straub, Crystal Ocampo, Elizabeth Salgado and Rubianne Garcia are competing on the women’s side.

On the men’s side, it’s Geoffrey Esper, Nicholas Wehry, James Webb, Gideon Oji, Patrick Bertoletti, Max Stanford, Darrien Thomas, Ricardo Corbucci, Radim Dvořáček, King Yamamoto, George Chiger, Derek Hendrickson, Sean Yeager and William Clude Lyon IV hoping to be crowned the new king.
