Pakistan: Pakistan’s big car disaster: Delhi alone sells more cars than whole country!

Pakistan’s economy has been tumbling for the past few months, and the country’s automotive industry also currently seems to be in shambles. Major manufacturers like Toyota, Honda and Suzuki had to recently halt production at their respective plants in Pakistan due to the ongoing shortage of essential raw materials. It has now been revealed that less than 6,200 four-wheelers were sold in the country in the month of October 2023.
For reference, this number is far less than even a lot of cities here in India including the likes of Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru and so on.A total of 4,850 cars were sold in Pakistan. Additionally, the LCV, van and jeep category saw a total sale of 1,330 units, as per data released by Pakistan Automotive Manufacturers’ Association (PAMA).

As for jeeps and pickups, the number came down by over 31 percent from 8,873 to 6,117 in July – October ’23 as compared to the same period in 2022. The motorcycle and three-wheeler business saw a dip too. A total of just 1,01,976 two- and three-wheelers were sold in Pakistan last month, as compared to the 1,14,420 units sold in October last year.
Hero MotoCorp, India’s largest two-wheeler manufacturer, alone sold 4,17,750 two-wheelers here in the month of October 2023 – which is 4x more than the combined sale of two-wheelers and three-wheelers in Pakistan in the same month. Moreover, Hero MotoCorp’s Oct ’23 sales numbers in India are even higher than the cumulative 2W and 3W sales numbers in Pakistan from July – October 2023!
