Why is Paramaa Ekadashi so important?
Paramaa Ekadashi is the most important Ekadashi observed by the Vaishnavs. As per the Hindu calendar, it is observed on the eleventh day of the Krishna Paksha (dark fortnight) in the month of Ashadha. Below are the date and timings of this Ekadashi.

Mythological relevance
Paramaa Ekadashi is also known as Purushottama Kamala Ekadashi.It is believed that on this day, Lord Vishnu goes into Yoga Nidra (deep sleep) for four months, during the Chaturmas period. It is believed that observing this fast helps in removing past karma and bad deeds, and helps in spiritual cleansing. Apart from that as per popular beliefs, it is said that people who observe this fast and rituals attain moksha and are free from the cycle of birth and death as the soul attains a place in Vaikunth Dham of Lord Vishnu.

The history of Ekadashi vrat
As per Hindu mythology, the Paramaa Ekadashi Vrat was once observed by Kubera, after which he was appointed as the ‘Lord of Wealth’ by Lord Vishnu. The power of Paramaa Ekadashi vrat is such that it is believed that one who follows this vrat religiously receives blessings of Lord Vishnu and does not face financial challenges in life.
Significance of Parama Ekadashi
The significance of Parama Ekadashi is that it is believed to cleanse the body and mind of sins. It is also said to bring good luck, prosperity, and happiness. Devotees who observe this fast with devotion and faith are said to achieve moksha (liberation).

Devotees who observe Paramaa Ekadashi fast do not consume grains, cereals, pulses, and beans on this day. They also avoid eating root vegetables like potatoes, onions, and garlic. Instead, they eat fruits, nuts, and seeds. Milk, yogurt, and ghee are also allowed.
