Paris Olympics 2024: All you want to know about the closing ceremony | Paris Olympics 2024 News

The closing ceremony of the Paris Games will take place at the Stade de France, the athletics venue, on Sunday. This is in contrast to the ambitious opening ceremony held at the Seine river on July 26.
The organizers have largely succeeded in showcasing the beauty of Paris throughout the Games. Beach volleyball was played next to the iconic Eiffel Tower. However, holding events in the polluted Seine River proved to be more challenging.
The closing ceremony is set to commence at 0030 IST (Monday) and is anticipated to last slightly over two hours. It will include traditional highlights such as the athletes’ parade and the handover of the Olympic flag to the organizers of the 2028 Los Angeles Games.
As part of the handover, five-time Grammy winner H.E.R. is expected to perform the US national anthem live at the Stade de France.
Additionally, there will be a medal presentation ceremony for the women’s marathon, which took place earlier in the day.
The closing ceremony will take place in a more conventional venue, Stade de France, as opposed to the Seine River. However, the event promises to be far from mundane, as it will be orchestrated by the same artistic director, Thomas Jolly.
According to a statement by the organizers, the ceremony will include “over a hundred performers, acrobats, dancers and circus artists.”
There will be musical performances and “the participation of world-renowned singers will complete the picture. … Part of the show will take place in the air, while the giant sets, costumes and spectacular lighting effects will take spectators on a journey through time, both past and future.”
“It’s a very visual, very choreographic, very acrobatic show with an operatic dimension to give a great visual fresco and say goodbye to athletes from all over the world,” said the ceremony director Jolly, as quoted by The Associated Press.
