Fuel prices in India have remained stagnant on August 9, 2022 once again. Petrol and diesel prices have held steady across the country after 76 days, except in Maharashtra. The state government in Maharashtra has announced a Value-Added Tax cut on petrol by Rs 5 per litre and Rs 3 per litre on diesel on July 15. For the rest of the cities, fuel prices have not changed since Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has announced an excise duty cut on petrol and diesel by Rs 8 a litre and Rs 6 a litre, respectively.
Petrol price in Delhi today is Rs 96.72 a litre, while diesel price in Delhi stands at Rs 89.62 a litre In Mumbai, petrol price today is Rs 106.31 per litre, while diesel price today is Rs 94.27 per litre.

Oil Marketing Companies, such as Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd (BPCL), Indian Oil Corporation Ltd (IOCL) and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd (HPCL) revise the fuel prices daily in line with international benchmark prices and foreign exchange rates. Retail petrol and diesel prices differ from state to state because of local taxes like VAT or freight charges.

On Tuesday, Brent crude futures fell 0.3%, to $96.38 a barrel, while the U.S. West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude futures declined 0.3%, to $90.52 a barrel, according to Reuters. ANZ Research analysts said, “The spectre of a U.S.-Iran nuclear deal continues to hover over the market.”
