Skoczen’s photographic journey has not only resulted in visually stunning images but has also deepened his understanding of ladybugs, or ladybirds as they’re commonly known. “They can be discovered throughout the year if one knows where to look, and their swift movements make them a challenging subject to capture. With over five thousand species in the ladybird family, they come in sizes ranging from 0.8 to 18 millimeters and boast a spectrum of colors including red, orange, and yellow.”

“Their wing covers exhibit stripes, spots, or can even be unmarked. Some species are uniformly colored, appearing in shades like black, gray, or brown, making them challenging to differentiate from other insects. Interestingly, the number of spots on a ladybird’s back does not indicate its age,” Skoczen shares, unveiling the fascinating world of these charming creatures through his lens.”
