As Delhi struggles with pollution, EVs are believed to be a solution to bring down the overall AQI as these vehicles are known to emit no harmful particulates in the environment in comparison to their Internal Combustion Engine (ICE) counterparts. For the past few years, as the winter and the stubble burning season approaches in the Northern part of India, the AQI in Delhi-NCR worsens, leading to several restrictions. It also exposes the citizens to hazardous breathing air.

EV Sales

The Delhi EV policy was introduced to boost EV adoption and target a 25 percent contribution to all new vehicle registrations by 2024. Overall EV sales across the country stood at 1.5 million units in the calendar year 2023, marking an impressive growth, fueled by top-selling months such as March, May, and November.
