General Motors Specialty Vehicles (GMSV) is equipping the Chevrolet Corvette Stingray with additional safety features in Australia for the 2024 model year. These safety features include forward collision alert, low-speed autonomous emergency braking with pedestrian detection, lane-keep assist, lane departure warning, and auto high-beam assist. The 2024 Corvette lineup will also come with a new spoiler design, two new wheel options, and three new colors. The front boot now has a soft-close feature, eliminating the need for owners to press it down to latch. Minor interior updates include new graphics and animations on the infotainment display.
The Z06, the hottest petrol-only Corvette variant, will be available in Australia late in 2023 with a starting price of $336,000 before on-road costs, which is a $121,000 increase over the most expensive 3LT Convertible in the range.
Powering the 2LT and 3LT Corvette models is a naturally aspirated 6.2-liter V8 engine producing 369kW of power and 637Nm of torque, mated to an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission. The Z06 is equipped with a 5.5-liter flat-plane crank V8 generating 475kW and 595Nm, also paired with an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission.
According to US economy figures, the combined fuel economy for the 2LT and 3LT models is 12.4 liters per 100km, while the Z06 has a claimed fuel economy of 15.7 liters per 100km. Official local fuel efficiency figures are not available.
The Corvette measures 4634mm long, 1934mm wide, and 1234mm tall, with a wheelbase of 2722mm. The front track width is 1647mm, and the rear track width is 1590mm. The estimated boot space is 357 liters across the front and rear compartments.
The Chevrolet Corvette comes with a three-year, 100,000km warranty and three years of Roadside Ultra Assistance. Service intervals are one year or 12,000km, and capped-price servicing is not currently offered for the Corvette in Australia.
The Corvette has not been crash-tested by ANCAP in Australia or the United States. However, it is equipped with four airbags, a reversing camera, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, and park assist. It also features a Weather drive mode for wet or slippery conditions.
Standard equipment for the Corvette includes features such as a front lift suspension system, keyless entry and start, heated and power folding mirrors, and a soft-close engine hatch cover. It also comes with a 12-inch configurable driver’s instrument cluster, an 8.0-inch infotainment touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a head-up display, and a Bose 14-speaker sound system. The Z06 variant adds carbon-fiber and suede microfiber trim and the Z07 Performance Package includes carbon ceramic brakes, carbon exterior highlights, unique suspension tuning, stickier tires, and carbon fiber wheels.
