Princess Anne is in hospital after sustaining “minor injuries and a concussion” in an incident on Sunday evening.
Buckingham Palace confirmed the 73-year-old, the only daughter of the late Queen Elizabeth, is “recovering well” in Southmead Hospital, Bristol, as a “precautionary measure”.
The princess had been walking within the grounds of Gatcombe Park estate in Gloucestershire, England when the “incident” occurred.

While the exact cause of her injuries is unconfirmed, it’s understood she sustained minor head wounds which are consistent with a potential impact from a horse’s head or legs.
Emergency services attended and treated her at the scene before she was transferred to hospital for tests, treatment and observation.
Her husband Timothy Laurence and children Zara Tindall and Peter Phillips were on the estate at the time.
“(She) is expected to make a full and swift recovery,” the palace said.
“The King has been kept closely informed and joins the whole Royal Family in sending his fondest love and well-wishes to the princess for a speedy recovery.”
Anne will miss several engagements, including the state banquet for the Japanese state visit on Tuesday and a visit to Canada.
“On doctors’ advice, Her Royal Highness’s engagements for the week ahead will be postponed. Her Royal Highness sends her apologies to any who may be inconvenienced or disappointed as a result,” a palace spokesperson said.
Anne is one of the hardest working members of the royal family, having stepped in and taken more duties in light of Charles’ cancer diagnosis.
