Rohit Sharma is currently playing for Mumbai Indians in IPL 2024. The former MI skipper is the top run-getter for his franchise in IPL 2024.
New Delhi: Punjab Kings owner Preity Zinta finally broke her silence on Rohit Sharma after several media reports claimed the former Mumbai Indians captain is linked with the Punjab franchise for IPL 2025. Following Mumbai Indians’ win over Punjab Kings in Mullanpur earlier in the week, reports claimed that Zinta had wished to sign Rohit in the upcoming IPL 2025 mega auctions if the Indian captain chooses to make himself available in the bidding war.
However, on Friday, Zinta rubbished all claims stating ‘all articles are completely fake and baseless.’ In a post on social media, Zinta posted screenshots of reports by a few media outlets and watermarked them as ‘fake news’. “#Fakenews ! All these articles are completely fake & baseless,” she wrote in the caption.
“I hold Rohit Sharma in very high regard & am a big fan of his, but I have NEVER DISCUSSED him in any interview nor made this STATEMENT!,” added the Bollywood actress. The 49-year-old also stated he has massive respect for Punjab Kings captain Shikhar Dhawan and these fake news are only putting the franchise in a ‘very poor taste’.
“I also have a lot of respect for Shikhar Dhawan & he being currently injured, makes these articles appear in very poor taste. These articles are a perfect example of how misinformation is picked up without any verification & circulated online.

“I humbly request all Media to refrain from circulating this & embarrassing all concerned parties. All I want to say is that we have a great team currently & our only focus is to win games & make the most out of #IPL2024. Thank you,” she added further.
