The Queen has been caught criticising world leaders who are yet to commit to the United Nations climate change conference in November.

Her Majesty, who was attending the official opening of the Welsh Parliament’s sixth session in Cardiff, was filmed on a phone camera expressing her frustrations to Princess Camilla and Elin Jones, the presiding officer of the Welsh Senedd.

“Extraordinary isn’t it, I’ve been hearing all about COP…still don’t know who is coming…no idea,” the monarch said.

“We only know about people who are not coming.”

“It’s really irritating when they talk, but they don’t do,”

Earlier this week Prince Charles also shared his frustrations that Scott Morrison has not yet committed to the event.

World leaders, climate campaigners and activists from around the world are due to attend the U.N. conference, which was postponed for a year because of the coronavirus pandemic.

The host, British Prime Minister Boris Johnson, hopes to secure emissions-cutting commitments to limit global temperature rises to 1.5 degrees Celsius compared with pre-industrial times.

Countries agreed that goal at a 2015 conference in Paris, but a U.N. report this month said the world is on course to break the 1.5C threshold within a decade.

Morrison finally commits

Scott Morrison will attend a major climate change conference in Glasgow after coming under intense international and domestic pressure to attend the crucial talks.

The prime minister on Friday committed to travelling to the United Kingdom for the COP26 conference which starts on October 31.

“It is an important event,” he told reporters at Kirribilli House on Friday.
