Later, Rajendra Kumar bought the bungalow for just Rs 60,000. Manoj Kumar convinced Rajendra that it is not cursed and he shouldn’t believe rumours. Rajendra was advised to perform pooja at the bungalow before shifted. However, after he shifted there, even his films began failing and he incurred losses.

The actor bought it from Rajendra Kumar at a price of Rs 3 and half lakh. His films subsequently stopped working and he started getting replaced by other actors. He separated from his wife Dimple Kapadia, though they never were officially divorced. His health was also deteriorating as he got diagnosed with Cancer in 2011 and passed away in 2012. After he death, an industrialist bought the house for Rs 90 crore.
