Ravindra Jadeja’s Medal Ceremony: T Dilip Surprises Indian Players After Win Against Bangladesh – WATCH

New Delhi: Indian fielding coach T Dilip surprised the whole Indian team after the Men in Blue defeated Bangladesh by seven wickets in Pune in the ongoing ODI World Cup 2023. So far in the tournament, the winners were announced on the television sets inside the dressing room. But Dilip, on Thursday, went a notch higher as the best fielder was announced on the giant screen on the ground, to which the whole Indian team were taken aback.

Known as one of the best fielders currently across the globe, Jadeja has been a vital part of the Indian line-up for the last decade. On Thursday too, the all-rounder showcased his masterpiece during the 43rd over of the Bangladesh innings.

Rahim sliced a short wide ball from Jasprit Bumrah and Jadeja flew to his right at the backward point to grab the blinder with both hands. Following the catch, Jadeja gestured towards Dilip, sitting on the sidelines, asking for the best fielder’s medal.

In the dressing room, during the medal ceremony, Dilip hailed India’s fielding in the tournament so far and also heaped high praise for Kuldeep Yadav and KL Rahul for their on-field shows against Bangladesh besides Jadeja.

However, when everyone through that the winner will be announced on the television screen in the dressing room itself like it used to be in earlier matches, Dilip pointed towards the giant screen on the ground which had Jadeja’s name flashing on it.

It took everyone by surprise and the whole Indian team pounced upon Dilip as a part of celebrations. Later, Rahul, who earned the medal against Pakistan, presented it to Jadeja. The all-rounder, in a sweet gesture presented it to Dilip, who gave it back to it’s original winner.

Earlier, India defeated Bangladesh to secure their fourth successive victory in the World Cup. Virat Kohli anchored India’s 257-run chase with an unbeaten 103 (97b; 6×4, 4×2) as the hosts completed the task in 41.3 overs. This was Kohli’s 48th ODI hundred.

Skipper Rohit Sharma (48; 40b) and Shubman Gill (53; 55b) gave India a perfect start with an 88-run opening partnership. Electing to bat, Bangladesh were restricted to 256 for eight. Jasprit Bumrah (2/41), Mohammed Siraj (2/60) and Ravindra Jadeja (2/38) claimed two wickets each.
