Last December, Rebel Moon Part One – A Child of Fire hit Netflix, with critics slamming the sci-fi epic as “pointless”, “bewildering” and a “disaster”.
Now Rebel Moon: Part Two — The Scargiver has landed on the streaming service today and the most common phrase among the reviews is that it’s “even worse” than the first movie.
At the time of writing, Rebel Moon Part 2 has just 14 per cent positive reviews on Rotten Tomatoes, which is even lower than 21 per cent for the first part.
Nevertheless, Part One was No 1 on Netflix and had been viewed over 72 million times after a month, so who knows how well Part Two will do.
In the meantime, check out the review highlights below.

Rebel Moon — Part Two: The Scargiver the sequel, is somehow even worse and barely justifies its existence on a fundamental level.
Forbes
Tedious, derivative and implausible beyond belief, Rebel Moon Part 2 makes Zack Snyder’s first film in this preposterous space opera franchise look great by comparison. If nothing else, that’s a remarkable feat.
Collider
Not only is The Scargiver not Snyder’s The Empire Strikes Back, but it’s even worse than Part One. Its ambitions have gotten infinitely smaller, as though it is all moving backward. That this occurs in slow motion just makes it that much more exhausting.
Next Best Picture
Simply put, “Rebel Moon – Part One: A Child Of Fire” was terrible, and by some miracle, Rebel Moon – Part Two: The Scargiver is even worse.
Digital Spy
There’s no denying Snyder has created an interesting world – he just forgot to tell an interesting story within it.
The Wrap
Even if a superior version of ‘Rebel Moon’ does come out eventually, that doesn’t make these versions any better, and they’re the only versions we have right now.
Nevertheless, not all the critics were so harsh in their reviews.
Screen Rant
Rebel Moon – Part Two: The Scargiver delivers on the action Zack Snyder promised at the end of the first movie, yet the same prior issues persist.
io9
The good news about Rebel Moon – Part Two: The Scargiver is that, without a doubt, it’s better than its predecessor. It’s more focused, cohesive, and character-driven…The bad news is it’s [also] slower, unbalanced, and emotionally vapid.
Slash Film
But as the film drags on and goes all in on its “Lord of the Rings” war ambitions, any and all of the goodwill generated by the first hour of “Part Two” is replaced by some of the most peak Zack Snyder moments in his entire filmography.
MovieWeb
Rebel Moon: Part Two – The Scargiver rises from the ashes of the original as an ass-kicking, sci-fi actioner with legitimate character development. Djimon Hounsou resurrects his Gladiator gravitas to rally a ragtag, motley crew to bloody glory.
Rebel Moon — Part Two: The Scargiver is streaming now on Netflix alongside Part 1, while R-rated cuts are set to be released at a later date.
