A recall alert has been issued for a cup sold by popular bubble tea chain Chatime over fears the product is unsafe for children.
Chatime’s 700ml purple Light-Up Cup was sold nationally between November 10, 2022 and May 28, 2024.
It was sold at Chatime stores and also included in its show bags at the 2023 Royal Easter Show in Sydney.

According to Product Safety Australia the cup does not comply with mandatory standards for products that contain button/coin batteries.
PSA said the product does not include the required warning information, and the batteries used to make the cup light up are not secured properly, making them accessible to young children.
“There is a risk of choking, severe internal burn injuries or death to young children if they gain access to the button/coin batteries and swallow them or place them inside their body,” the consumer watchdog said.
“Severe or fatal injuries can happen in two hours or less. Consumers may be unaware that the product contains button batteries.”
PSA urged consumers to stop using the cup “immediately” and to place it out of reach of children.
Consumers can return the cup to a Chatime store for a full refund.
