Reitz High School tackles Sunrise School Spirit

EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WFIE) – The Reitz High School Panthers took on the third Sunrise School Spirit challenge of the season.

Of course, it’s all to raise food for the Tri-State Food Bank.

From impressive spirit, to an impressive band.

The Reitz High School Panthers brought the hype rallying for the Tri-State Food Bank.

“It’s going to be a big day,” said Reitz student, Addie. “And we’re so excited for all the energy and the school spirit that we can bring to the table today.”

Friday was a big day because it’s also the Panther’s homecoming game, and what better way to kick off homecoming with a Reitz Bowl themed food display.

“We knew that the bowl was a big part of th our school, and we wanted to incorporate that into our theme. It’s the Reitz bowl, we have to,” said Claire.

And the Panthers made Sunrise School Spirit a family affair, including their feeder schools to help collect cans.

“We couldn’t have done this without our feeder schools, we added in the abbreviations of each of the schools that helped,” said Carson. “Because they all donated so many cans and so put much work into this, and we couldn’t have done this without them.”

The students having fun, but also realizing how important their work is to the community.

“I just love helping people and this really does help,” said Reitz student, Ethan.

“This is an incredible collection food and it’s going to mean thousands fewer empty bowls this holiday season,” said Glenn Roberts.

The Panthers brought in a whopping 22,880 pounds of food for the Tri-State Food Bank.
