Residents can report neighbors for lighting up illegal fireworks with new Mesa PD system

MESA, AZ (AZFamily) — The Mesa Police Department has created a new system for residents to report illegal fireworks.

Beginning Monday, July 1 through July 6, residents can anonymously report illegal fireworks on the City of Mesa website.

To find the complaint form, go to the “Residents” tab, find “Police,” then click or tap Report Fireworks.

People can submit a request or create an anonymous request before they submit a complaint. The complaint is sent to an email that is monitored 24/7 by Special Operations lieutenants, sergeants, and the Real Time Crime Center.

Each complaint will be verified by patrol or the Real Time Crime Center video monitoring. Once verified, officers will be dispatched to the area to investigate the claim.

A specific group of Mesa police has been assigned to calls regarding fireworks for Independence Day to combat illegal fireworks activity.
