We’re big fans of both the Rivian R1T and R1S. They’re just darn good vehicles that happen to be electric and also happen to be ridiculously quick. You’ll even soon be able to charge them at Tesla’s Superchargers. Unfortunately, with base prices starting just north of $70,000, they’re pretty expensive. That’s where the upcoming R2 comes in. It’s supposed to be a smaller, less-expensive vehicle that a lot more people can afford. And if the specs that were supposedly leaked are accurate, it sounds like Rivian already has a hit on its hands.

Twitter user Chris Hilbert claimed he found detailed information on the upcoming R2 on Rivian’s website by using the web inspector tool. After he posted what he found, Rivian reportedly updated the website to remove what he found, so we are unable to verify his findings ourselves. Also, when asked, Rivian declined to comment. With the R2 SUV reveal set for March 7, though, we won’t have to wait long to learn whether this information is accurate or not.

So what are the specs? Supposedly, the R2 SUV will start at $47,500, although it might be an even $47,000. Apparently, the website wasn’t consistent with which starting price it used. It will also offer up to 330 miles of range and hit 60 mph in as little as 3.0 seconds. We’re going to guess the base R2 will be slower and offer a shorter range than those maximums, but we wouldn’t exactly complain if you could get a car that quick for less than $50,000.

As far as size goes, it will allegedly seat five and come in at 185.6 inches overall with a 115.6-inch wheelbase. That would make it a little more than 15 inches shorter than the R1S and 5.5 inches shorter from wheel to wheel. That would make it essentially the same size as the Tesla Model Y. Still, it will also offer 9.8 inches of ground clearance, giving it a 25-degree approach angle and a 27-degree departure angle.

Considering this information reportedly came from the official Rivian website, as well as Rivian’s silence on the leak, we’re going to guess it’s accurate. Either way, though, we’ll find out for sure on Thursday.
