Forget about slaving over a hot stove or spending hours perfecting your cocktail-making skills. The future of food is here, and it’s full of robots, AI, and other high-tech gadgets that are promising to do all the work for us.
At CES 2024, the Consumer Technology Association’s annual trade show, there were plenty of new and innovative products on display that are designed to make our lives in the kitchen easier. Here are a few of the highlights:
GE Profile Smart Indoor Smoker: This $1,000 smoker is perfect for city dwellers who want to enjoy the taste of smoked food without having to deal with the hassle of a traditional smoker. It’s about the size of a toaster oven and can fit a full brisket cut in half, 40 chicken wings, or three racks of ribs. It uses wood pellets to achieve a smoky flavor, but its technology traps the smoke inside, making it ideal for apartments and other indoor spaces.
Brisk It NeoSear Grill: This smart grill uses generative AI technology to take the guesswork out of barbecuing. You can ask the grill questions like “What seasoning should I add to make my chicken skewers spicy?” or “How do I sear a medium-rare steak?” and it will provide you with instructions. The grill will even adjust the cooking settings automatically to ensure that your food comes out perfectly cooked. The NeoSear is not yet available for purchase, but it is expected to cost around $2,000.
ColdSnap Ice Cream Machine:This Keurig-like machine makes it possible to whip up your own ice cream in just two minutes. Choose from a variety of flavors like salted caramel and coffee, put the pod in the machine, and it will dispense your cold treat in minutes. ColdSnap can also make frozen lattes, boozy ice cream treats, and protein shakes.
Chef AI Air Fryer: This air fryer uses artificial intelligence to detect what type of food you are cooking and adjust the settings accordingly. No more need to fiddle with knobs and dials! The Chef AI air fryer is expected to be available for purchase later this year for around $250.
Bartesian Premier Cocktail Machine: This appliance takes the guesswork out of bartending. Choose from 60 different recipes, drop a cocktail capsule into the machine, and in seconds you have a perfectly mixed drink. The Bartesian Premier retails for $369 and will be available later this year.
iGulu Beer Brewing Machine: This machine makes it easy to brew your own beer at home. Just pour a pre-mixed recipe into the machine’s keg, add water, and scan the sticker that comes with the beer mix. In nine to 13 days, you’ll have a gallon of your own homemade beer.
Artly Coffee Barista Bot: This robot barista can make your favorite coffee drinks just the way you like them. It even mimics the way a human barista would prepare your drink, from packing the coffee grounds into the filter to frothing the milk and pouring latte art. Artly Coffee bots are currently in operation at 10 locations across the Pacific Northwest and in New York City.
These are just a few of the many new and innovative kitchen gadgets that were on display at CES 2024.
