Rohit Shetty recently shared behind-the-scenes insights into the creation of the chart-topping track Lungi Dance from his blockbuster film Chennai Express, starring Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone. The filmmaker revealing that the party anthem was added to the film at the eleventh hour, disclosing that he was worried about the controversial lyrics of the song.
The song is a musical tribute to the legendary ‘Thalaiva’ Rajinikanth, sung by singer-rapper Yo Yo Honey Singh. In his recent interview, Rohit shared that Lungi Dance was previously not there. Honey and Shah Rukh met, and then SRK called him up to say, ‘Ek gaana hai…tune, wo sunna hai kya? I think it’s superb.’ It was only after this call that he requested Honey Singh to incorporate the song into the film.
However, Rohit had expressed initial concerns about a particular line in the song that included the word ‘Vodka.’ Uncomfortable with its use, he insisted on a change. “The line was eventually changed to ‘Coconut mein Lassi milake,’ and Honey quipped, ‘Isse zyada main shareef nahi ho sakta aapke liye.’ I was worried about that line as a lot of children come to watch my films,” Rohit was quoted as saying by ANI.

Rohit also spoke about Shah Rukh Khan’s target audience, stating that his films are beloved by those who value family-oriented content. He also acknowledged the song’s tremendous success and its popularity among fans.

Chennai Express, a romantic comedy, revolves around the journey of Rahul (Shah Rukh Khan) and Meenamma (Deepika Padukone) as they accidentally end up on the wrong train and embark on an unexpected adventure. The film, which also featured Sathyaraj in a supporting role.

Following the success of Chennai Express, Shah Rukh Khan and Rohit Shetty collaborated once again for Dilwale, which also featured Kajol, Varun Dhawan, Kriti Sanon, Varun Sharma, and Pankaj Tripathi.
