He later added: “I will make history as the best Raptor to ever put on a uniform.”

Nowell averaged 17.6 points per game for Kansas State in his final season and his 8.3 assists average were second in the NCAA. He also averaged 2.6 steals. Nowell hit 89% of his free-throw attempts and 35.5% of NCAA-distance three-point attempts, but his 5-foot-7 height creates far longer odds of his finding success at the next level. He also excelled during March Madness, showing he isn’t afraid of a little pressure.

In the never-say-never department, undersized point guard Fred VanVleet left the Raptors this summer for Houston holding the franchise record for both points and assists in a game and he also went undrafted.

Nowell will likely first get a chance to show what he can do for Raptors 905 and go from there. Eventually his contract could be turned into a full NBA deal.
