Ryan Gosling reveals Margot Robbie’s unique rule on Barbie set

It seems Margot Robbie – star and producer of Barbie – went all out to inspire cast and crew to fully immerse themselves into the ‘Barbie world’.

As part of her efforts to enthuse those working on the movie, Robbie mandated a dress code on the set – ‘compelling’ cast and crew to wear pink once a week.

The Aussie bombshell’s co-star Ryan Gosling, who plays Ken in the upcoming film, exposed the rule during their marathon press tour.

“Margot had this pink day once a week, where everyone had to wear something pink. And if you didn’t, you were fined,” Gosling told People.

He shared that Robbie “would go around collecting the fines, and she would donate it to a charity”.

“What was really special was just how excited the male crew members were,” he said of the rule to wear pink.

“At the end of the film, they all got together and, with their own money, made pink crew shirts with rainbow fringe.”

The pink dress code, he said, was an opportunity for the cast and crew “to show their respect and admiration for what Margot and Greta (Gerwig) were creating.”

“It was almost like that scene at the end of Dead Poets Society, where they all get on their desk and say, ‘O captain! My captain!’”
