Ryan Gosling has achieved his first Billboard Hot 100 debut with a song from the “Barbie” movie. The actor’s song, titled “I’m Just Ken,” is featured on the soundtrack album, “Barbie: The Album,” and entered the Hot 100 chart at No. 87. It has also made appearances on other charts, such as Hot Rock Songs, Hot Rock & Alternating Songs, and Digital Song Sales.
While this is Gosling’s first entry on the Hot 100, he has previously appeared on other Billboard charts for his performances in the 2016 film “La La Land.” According to Billboard, Gosling came up with the idea to perform “I’m Just Ken” in the movie after hearing the demo. The song was requested by Gosling himself, and Mark Ronson, the executive producer of the soundtrack album, praised Gosling’s performance, stating that he understood the balance between seriousness and comedy that the song required.
Director Greta Gerwig expressed that Gosling was the perfect choice for the role of Ken, and that the role was always meant for him. She confirmed this in an interview with Rolling Stone, where she mentioned that the role was specifically created for Gosling after Margot, another cast member, joined the project.
