On Thursday, Noise Pop announced the Phase 1 lineup for its first 2024 festival. From Feb. 22 to March 3, Noise Pop will host concerts at venues across San Francisco, including Great American Music Hall, 1015 Folsom, Gray Area, Bottom of the Hill and Grace Cathedral. Compared with festivals like Outside Lands and Hardly Strictly, Noise Pop typically focuses on a mix of up-and-coming bands and legacy indie rock acts.

Noise Pop Festival emerged in San Francisco in the early ’90s with a $5, six-band festival at the Independent. Since its inception, the festival has grown into a multi-night, multi-venue marathon. Over the years, Noise Pop became ingrained in the San Francisco scene as one of the city’s biggest promoters, championing local acts like Destroy Boys and Tia Nomore with its free block parties.

Past festival lineups boasted early-career performances from Courtney Barnett, the Flaming Lips and the White Stripes.

The 2024 Phase 1 lineup features indie royalty headliners Snail Mail and the Mountain Goats alongside international stars like Hailu Mergia and Sofia Kourtesis. Organizers also showed love for San Francisco bands, featuring indie pop outfit the Reds, Pinks & Purples and local punk bands Chokecherry and Spiritual Cramp. Promoters threw electronic fans a bone, booking expert knob-twiddlers Actress and Alessandro Cortini.

General-admission badge holders can hop from show to show, one night after the next. Badges also grant access to “exclusive parties” and “happy hours,” according to Noise Pop’s website.

Expect a couple more waves of artists in the coming months, as well as tickets for individual shows.
