Sean William Scott revealed in a recent interview on “The Rich Eisen Show” that he only made $8,000 for his role as Stifler in the popular 1999 film “American Pie”. Despite the film grossing over $235 million at the box office and launching the careers of many of its cast members, Scott considered it a lot of money at the time. This interview resurfaced amidst ongoing discussions about poor pay in the entertainment industry, particularly as the SAG-AFTRA strike continues.
Other actors, including Kimiko Glenn from “Orange is the New Black” and Raeden Greer from “American Horror Story”, have also spoken out about receiving low residual checks. Scott, however, was able to secure a higher payday for the 2012 sequel “American Reunion”, earning $5 million plus a percentage of the gross.
Despite his success in subsequent projects such as “The Dukes of Hazzard” and “Goon”, Scott will always remember his humble beginnings in “American Pie”. He even joked about potentially earning less than $8,000 after working as a churro guy at the LA Zoo. Regardless, he remains grateful for the opportunities the film provided him.
