When you think winter hair, you probably don’t think chunky blonde highlights … but maybe you should? Selena Gomez proved that the typically summery color placement works just as well when the temps drop and the snow begins to fall, and the unexpected shade has me reconsidering everything I thought I knew about seasonal hair color trends.
Gomez typically sticks to her signature dark brunette hair, but she must have heard the siren song of highlights recently. New pics of the star in Paris just dropped, and while the whole look is newsworthy, it’s the pop of blonde that really grabs your attention. Ribbons of warm honey blonde have been woven through Gomez’s hair in a soft ombré style (yes, it’s back) with pops of brightness framing her face and glimmering in her underlayers. These aren’t your typical Y2K chunky highlights; they’re bold and bright for sure, but instead of the thick stripes of the past, this slimmer, sleeker technique provide depth and dimension to the intermingling colors.
Hairstylist and makeup artist Philipp Verheyen styled Gomez’s hair perfectly to show off the new color, parting it in the center and using a Shark Beauty dryer to craft beachy, undone waves. Around her face, Verheyen pulled out two thick pieces of hair and softly waved them near Gomez’s cheekbones to really show off the glimmering color.
