A fan club posted a video of young fans lighting crackers and other fireworks outside the Gaiety Galaxy theatre in Mumbai to celebrate the release of the film.Among the many videos posted online, was one featuring fans dancing to the dhol while others engaged in playful antics and held up ‘Team Hardy’ banners.
Reacting to the videos, Shah Rukh thanked his fans for the outpour of love and support. He wrote in a tweet, “Thank u guys and girls have a good show and hope u all get entertained by #Dunki.”
On watching the videos of all the cute antics fans respoted to while waiting for the theatres to screen the film, an amused SRK wrote, “Arre ab picture dekhne toh jao ya bahar hi kushti karte rahoge. Go in see the movie and tell me if u all enjoyed it.”
‘Dunki’, directed by Rajkumar Hirani, also stars Taapsee Pannu and Vicky Kaushal in lead roles. The comedy drama is based on an illegal immigration technique ‘donkey flight’.
The film opened to mixed reviews. Those who caught the early preview shows took to social media to share their first-hand reactions to the movie. While some called the film a ‘masterpiece’, others were ‘disappointed’.
‘Dunki’ is expected to have a good Rs 30 crore opening at the box office. Early box office reports indicate that the good advance bookings, coupled with the extended Christmas weekend, will help boost collections.
While it enjoys a solo release today, it will face stiff competition at the box office this weekend with the releases of Prabhas’ Salaar and Jason Momoa’s Aquaman And The Lost Kingdom set to release tomorrow.
