Shah Rukh Khan’s Dunki had a non-holiday release and witnessed a good opening day at the box office. Amid the release, a special screening of the film was held in Rashtrapati Bhavan, Delhi, adding a touch of prestige and recognition to Rajkumar Hirani‘s creation.
‘Dunki’, directed by the acclaimed Rajkumar Hirani, collected Rs 30 crores at the box office on release day.According to Sacnilk.com, on Friday, December 24, Dunki recorded a nationwide Hindi occupancy of 49.67%, contributing to a total collection of Rs 74.93 crore net in India.
The highest occupancy was seen in Kolkata, reaching 64.50%, while Kolkata followed closely at 61.50%. Mumbai trailed at 60%, while Chandigarh followed with a 59% occupancy rate. With this, it has crossed 100 crore net in India.
Several critics were underwhelmed by the much-discussed film, described as a comedy-drama centred on illegal immigration, and the frenzy didn’t quite reach the fever pitch of Shah Rukh’s earlier two releases, which didn’t matter much to his die-hard fans.
Dunki features a talented ensemble cast, including Boman Irani, Taapsee Pannu, Vicky Kaushal, Vikram Kochhar, Anil Grover, and the iconic Shah Rukh Khan.
