The advance bookings of Shah Rukh Khan starrer ‘Dunki‘ opened on Saturday evening. There’s immense excitement surrounding the movie and SRK fans are making the most to make this film just as successful as ‘Jawan’ and ‘Pathaan’. It’s evident because within 24 hours, ‘Dunki’ has managed to sell decent amount of tickets.
The SRK starrer is clashing with Prabhas‘ ‘SalaarPart 1: Ceasefire’ and there’s going to be immense competition among both these movies for the number of screens they occupy.Of course the response that they get is secondary and that will affect the shows that each one gets. As of now, according to a report in Pinkvilla, ‘Dunki’ has sold approximately 45,000 tickets in the top 3 chains – PVR Inox and Cinepolis. PVR Inox leads with 36,500 tickets, Cinepolis has sold around 8,500 tickets. This analysis was uptil Sunday evening and by night, it would have sold 60,000 tickets approximately.
This is just the beginning and the film will gain momentum from Monday-Tuesday onwards before it releases on Thursday. So far action movies have dominated the box office, post the pandemic and considering that ‘Dunki’ is a socio-comedy, it will be considered good if it manages to sell about 3 lakh tickets. Meanwhile, fans have organised SRK’s earliest show at Gaiety on Thursday morning. There’s a show of ‘Dunki’ at 6:55 am on its opening day and it would be interesting to see the response there.
Meanwhile, SRK was at the global village in Dubai on Sunday to promote the movie and during an event he shared that he feels Rajkumar Hirani has made his first love story with ‘Dunki’. The movie also stars Taapsee Pannu, Boman Irani and Vicky Kaushal.
